• Incorporated as a non-profit agency in 2003
• Granted charitable status in 2004
• Merged with Safe Place Project in 2004, resulting in
a new focus on at-risk youth
• Purchased first property in June 2005
which is situated at 290 Mississaga St.W. Orillia
•Full occupancy (2 x 2 bedroom units, 1 x bachelor unit)
is expected
• More than 1,500 volunteer hours went
into the renovation of the Mississaga Street house
• More than $77,500 in donations were
contributed to the project
• Improvements worth $105,000 have been
made to the house
• Among others, the diverse board of directors of
Places for People now includes community mental health
worker, two employees of the City of Orillia, the Regional
Chief Superintendent of the OPP, the Executive Director
of the Community Legal Clinic, and a number of
other community professionals.
